First Phase of 2011-12 Campus Placements at School of Petroleum Management

 
     
 

The placement process for the fifth batch of MBA (Energy and Infrastructure) of School of Petroleum Management (SPM), Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) started on 5th December, 2011 and currently SPM is towards the completion of the process. 24 companies notable, amongst them, Ernst & Young, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Accenture, Infraline Energy Research and Information Services, Sabarmati Gas Ltd., Mahanagar Gas Ltd., Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. Ltd., Yes Bank, IL & FS, AF-Mercados EMI, BDO Consulting, Empire Industries, Jubilant Energy, Mahindra Satyam, Suzlon, Sun Edison, M7 Technologies, GETCO, Deep Industries Anup Industries and Infosys Ltd. have participated so far in the Placement 2011-12.

For the outgoing batch, the highest offer is Rs.12 lakhs and the average package offered is close to Rs. 7.01 lakhs. Every year SPM students get better offers in terms of profile and package. There is upsurge in highest and average package offered to the students compared to last year. Last year the highest and average packages were Rs.11.89 lakhs and Rs.6.30 lakhs respectively. The profiles offered to the students include Business Development, Petro-Retailing, Lubricants Marketing, Project-Financing, Business Analyst, Market Research, Market Development, etc. to mention a few.

This year apart from fresh recruitments, experienced students are recruited at lateral positions as well. These positions are at higher-than-entry-level positions with relatively better offer and enhanced responsibilities. Besides energy sector companies, non-energy sector companies like IT and Consulting firms, Financial Institutions, etc. also visited SPM for their energy verticals. This year the major recruiters are Oil Marketing Companies, IT Companies, Consulting firms, Engineering Companies, City Gas Distribution Companies, Upstream Companies and Banks and Financial Institutions.

Close to 95% of the students have already been placed in the ongoing phases of the placement process so far. A few more companies from different parts of the energy value chain are slated to participate in the process in the coming weeks.
